The College of St Hild and St Bede, commonly known as Hild Bede, is a constituent college of Durham University in England. It is the university's second largest collegiate body, with over 1000 students.
Hild Bede looks out to the wider world, through our gateway location into the City and University, seeking to enable its members, of all ages and in all roles and capacities, to flourish and shine so that they too can be good citizens who improve the world around them.
Hild Bede is the second oldest College in Durham. We are particularly proud of the fact that we were the first College in the University to award degrees to women and every year mark the sacrifice made by Bede men who died on the Western Front in World War 1.
24 de may. de 2023 · Working in partnership with UPP, we will develop and deliver a refurbished new home for Hild Bede on its historic Riverside location, alongside proposals for a new college neighbour for the College on the site.
Life at Hild Bede. Hild Bede students are uniquely represented not by a Common Room for Undergraduate and another for Postgraduate Students but by the Student Representative Council. Hild Bede also boasts a Senior Common Room comprising around 200 members.
Our History. Hild Bede has a long and captivating past. In 2016, we celebrated 175 years of education on the site. We took the opportunity to look back at our parent colleges, and how our very own Hild Bede was forged from humble beginnings.
