When you join the College of Swords at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor and the scimitar. If you’re proficient with a simple or martial melee weapon, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.

College of Swords is one of the Subclasses of Bard. These Bards focus entirely on improving their own combat prowess by combining the Extra Attack passive, being able to use Bardic Inspiration charges for utility and multi-attacks, and being the only Bard Subclass able to have a Fighting Style.
