IPEDS is a system of 12 interrelated survey components conducted annually that gathers data from every college, university, and technical and vocational institution that participates in the federal student financial aid programs. The data collections occur in fall, winter, and spring.

The provisional data release of the components collected during the spring collection period of the 2022–23 Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) contains substantive changes in file structure or file documentation for multiple components of IPEDS compared to the previous year.
The 2023-24 data collection cycle opens August 9, 2023. The surveys available for completion as of that date include: Registration; Institution Identification; Report Mapping (if applicable) IC Header; Keyholders should be registered prior to August 30.
All institutions will be required to register for the 2024-25 data collection cycle. UserIDs and passwords for 2024-25 will be distributed to all institutions on August 7. Those with designated keyholders will receive information via email.
The survey materials returned for a particular institution may vary from the actual survey screens the institution sees during data entry. If you have questions concerning this, please contact the Help Desk at 1-877-225-2568 or ipedshelp@rti.org.
