A Tonic For The Troops, the Rats second album, sees the band throwing off any pretentions of being a punk rock band - clearly only ever intended as a means of gaining an initial foothold into the business. In truth, the Rats were never in competition with bands like The Pistols. A more apt comparison would have been their ska equivalents, Madness.
