The Philippine Military Academy (Tagalog language: Akademiyang Militar ng Pilipinas) or PMA, is the Philippine military school of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). PMA was established on December 21, 1936 by the virtue of Commonwealth Act No. 1 (commonly known as the National Defense Act). [2]
The Academia Militar was housed in the convent of Barasoain together with the Universidad Literia de Pilipinas and Instituto Burgos. The Academia was deactivated on Jan. 20, 1899 due to highly escalated tensions between the Filipinos and Americans.
