Leben. Albert Finney besuchte die Salford Grammar School und studierte anschließend in London an der Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.Seinen ersten Auftritt hatte Finney am Birmingham Repertory Theatre. 1958 zog es ihn zurück nach London. 1959 spielte er bei der Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon klassische Rollen in den Shakespeare-Stücken Sommernachtstraum, Othello und König Lear.
