11 de mar. de 2022 · Alison Balsom gives UK premiere of new Wynton Marsalis trumpet concerto. Four performances of the trumpet concerto with the LSO under Sir Antonio Pappano will begin with the UK première at the Barbican on April 11th. This will be followed by a performance in Bristol on 12th, and then in Germany - Cologne and Hamburg - later in April.
With an album of celebration – both joyful and solemn – trumpeter Alison Balsom again declares her love for the baroque era, which she calls “the golden age of the trumpet”. Joining Handel’s exuberant Music for the Royal Fireworks are works by two other German-born composers – JS Bach and Telemann – and by the London-born Henry Purcell.

Alison Balsom: charity ambassador. As well as winning Gramophone Artist of the Year in 2013, Alison was awarded the PPL Classical Award by musical charity Nordoff Robbins. "As a musician, I can't think of a more valuable thing for me to do than to help highlight the constant need for a charity such as Nordoff Robbins," she said.
