School History. Alleyn Court was founded in 1904 by Theodore Wilcox and this was only possible because of the charity shown by a family relative. Theo’s father died while Theo and his siblings were still very young so his father’s cousin, Lewis Carroll, stepped in and offered to pay for the children’s education.

Our Prep School consists of four year groups (school years 3-6). Small class sizes of rarely more than 20 children (in special circumstances we may admit to a maximum of 21) ensure that children receive focused attention and are able to thrive as individuals.
At Alleyn Court we offer a broad and inclusive curriculum to prepare all pupils for their future secondary schools. With over half of our pupils gaining places to one of the region’s Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE), our curriculum is designed to prepare our pupils to the highest academic standards.
