Andreas Papandreou (1919–96) was the son of a Greek prime minister (Georgios) who railed against the defeat of his father’s government to later create the first mass socialist party (‘Movement’) in post-war Greece, the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK, Πανελλήνιο Σοσιαλιστικό Κίνημα) on 3 September 1974.
