  2. There are definitely some bits in Beethoven that really catch a modern ear, like the one you pointed out. Some late Beethoven pieces have some trippy moments as well. Rameau isn't performed all that much, but while some of it is conventional circle of 5ths tomfoolery, he'll also sometimes dump hilariously futuristic bits in (with surprisingly modern color orchestration).
