Benjamin Outram (1 April 1764 – 22 May 1805) was an English civil engineer, surveyor and industrialist. He was a pioneer in the building of canals and tramways.

1 de abr. de 2022 · Outram was a pioneer in the building of canals and tramways. His commissions included becoming engineer for the Nottingham Canal in 1792, and the Derby Canal in 1793. For the latter, he erected the world ‘s first cast iron navigable aqueduct ( water bridge ), the 13m long, single span, Holmes Aqueduct that carried the Derby Canal.
Benjamín Outram. El famoso ingeniero civil, Benjamín Outram fue uno de los pioneros en la construcción de los ferrocarriles británicos. Nació el 1° de Abril de 1764 en la ciudad de Alfreton Debyshire. El nombre de Benjamín Outram, se debió en honor a Benjamín Franklin, amigo de la familia.
Benjamin Outram was born at Alfreton, near Matlock, Derbyshire, on the 1 April 1764 and he was baptised on the same day. He was named in honour of Benjamin Franklin, the American printer, scientist, inventor and politician who was a personal friend of the Outram family.
