In 1972, they recruited friend of Jeff’s, Bennett Vartanian, as the band’s drummer. In 1973, the band moved from Fort Payne (Alabama) to Myrtle Beach (South Carolina), where they became the house band at a club called “The Bowery.” They would play six nights a week for tips, honing harmonies that would become a trademark for the band.
