Ives began his career as an itinerant singer and guitarist, eventually launching his own radio show, The Wayfaring Stranger, which popularized traditional folk songs.
Burl Ives was a singer, actor and Oscar-winning narrator who starred in The Big Country and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He also sang folk songs, recorded albums and voiced Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
