Started by Mona Best, mother of early Beatles drummer Pete Best, in the cellar of the family home, the Casbah was planned as a members-only club for her sons Pete and Rory and their friends, to meet and listen to the popular music of the day.

Antecedentes. Lugar del Casbah donde Los Quarry Men realizaron su presentación en la inauguración del club. Mona Shaw nació el 3 de enero de 1924, in Delhi, India, cuando ese país había sido sometido como colonia del Imperio Británico. Allí se casó con John Best, con quien tuvo dos hijos, Pete Best (n. 1941) y Rory Best (n. 1944).
24 de ene. de 2024 · 29 August 1959 was the opening night of the Casbah Coffee Club, a new social club for teenagers, based in the cellar of a large Victorian house at 8 Hayman’s Green, Liverpool. The Casbah Coffee Club was run by Mona Best, mother of one Pete Best and owner of the house.
27 de ago. de 2021 · The Best family claims that The Casbah was actually the birthplace of The Beatles – with some justification. The Quarrymen were effectively reborn on 29 August 1959 when they opened The Casbah. By the time The Beatles closed the club in June 1962, they had played there at least 44 times.
