Resté discret parmi ses contemporains, l’homme ne s’est jamais véritablement présenté comme un artiste, mais davantage comme un documentariste des architectures parisiennes. C’est d’ailleurs dans la capitale que celui-ci voit le jour, le 17 juillet 1813.
