Cheyenne Autumn. Cheyenne Autumn is a 1964 American epic western movie directed by John Ford and starring Richard Widmark, Carroll Baker, James Stewart, Edward G. Robinson. It was distributed by Warner Bros. and was nominated for an Academy Awards in 1965.
Cheyenne Autumn is usually referred to as John Ford's elegy for Native Americans, or an apologia for his own role in mistreating Native Americans on screen. It is this, certainly, but it is also other things. It isn't as sympathetic as you expect going in, not having seen it before, but perhaps fairer.
