Crumbsuckers were an American crossover thrash band formed by bass player Gary Meskil in 1982 in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York. Crumbsuckers combined thrash and hardcore punk sounds and themes, making an impact on the scene with their 1986 debut album, Life of Dreams.

In 1989 the band changed its name to Heavy Rain to signal a new musical orientation towards heavy metal. At that time, Gary Meskil and Dan Richardson left the band.

Crumbsuckers was one of the more well-known such bands (and arguably one of the most metallic), with their 1986 album Life Of Dreams regarded as a classic of said genre, mixing hardened guitars (almost thrash, though thrash hadn't yet fully caught on) with the looseness of punk/hardcore.
