Deborah Compagnoni is the first and only alpine skier to win a gold medal in three consecutive Winter Olympics. She was the most successful female Italian skier ever, dominating the giant slalom and winning every possible major international gold medal. She also won 16 races in the World Cup and one seasonal World Cup in the giant slalom. She married Alessandro Benetton, the chairman of the Benetton fashion group, and founded Skiing for Life, an association for leukemia research.
