Her early successes were achieved with " The Gypsy ", " A Tree in the Meadow " and " I'm Walking Behind You " by her partner Billy Reid , and " Say It with Flowers " written by Squires with piano accompaniment by Russ Conway .

Dorothy Squires was a show business star blessed with vivacity and beauty. Furthermore, and like most really successful popular singers, she possessed genuine musical talent. She also had a large, loyal and well organised fan-base. In the period when she flourished she was one of the most charismatic and successful British performers.
When letters, written in Italian landed on Dorothy Squires’ doormat, it signalled that her life was about to change forever. Her then husband, Roger Moore of ‘007’ fame, had been filming in Rome but unbeknown to Dorothy filming had finished and he was back in the country.
