Drama Centre London was founded in 1963 by a breakaway group of teachers and students from the Central School of Speech and Drama, led by John Blatchley, Yat Malmgren and Christopher Fettes. It was originally on Prince of Wales Road, Chalk Farm , but moved first to Back Hill, Clerkenwell in 2004, then to King's Cross in 2011.

While Alra students do now have the security of knowing they will be able to complete their degrees at Rose Bruford College, the announcement of the closure came at a particularly bad time for those who were due to graduate this year.
The Drama Centre Theatre is a performing arts space for mid-sized productions with its 615-seat proscenium theatre. The Theatre is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, rigging and sound systems.
