Hace 6 días · The European Commission (EC) has started an in-depth investigation to make sure that the planned UK subsidy contract for a 645-MW biomass-fired unit of Drax Group Plc (LON:DRX) will be in line with EU state aid rules. Drax is working to convert to biomass three of the six coal-fired power generators at the Drax power station at Derby.
Hace 4 días · Elsewhere in Scotland, Drax is developing a £500M pumped storage hydro-electric scheme Cruachan 2, which will be a new 600MW capacity plant constructed next to Drax’s existing 440MW facility beneath Ben Cruachan in Argyll and Bute. The project received planning consent in July 2023 and Cowi was signed on to advise in September of that year.
