Not Tom Waits’ most interesting or cutting-edge album, in fact I’d put it around the bottom of his discography as a whole as well as his pre-Swordfishtrombones years specifically. However, that’s not to say it’s bad, I always love Waits’ lyricism and the instrumentals are good in a functional way here.
