Francis Hastings, 10th Earl of Huntingdon PC (13 March 1729 – 2 October 1789) was a British peer and politician. Life. He was the eldest of seven children of the 9th Earl of Huntingdon and his wife, Lady Selina, a leader of the Methodist evangelical revival.
Biography Francis Hastings was born on April 5, 1728, the eldest of seven children of Theophilus Hastings, 9th Earl of Huntingdon (1696-1746), and his wife Selina (Shirley) (1707-1791), a leader of the Methodist evangelical revival. He was eighteen when his father died and he became 10th Earl of Huntingdon.

He was the eldest of seven children of the 9th Earl of Huntingdon and his wife, Lady Selina, a leader of the Methodist evangelical revival.
Following the death of the 10th Earl of Huntingdon the earldom was dormant for 30 years until claimed by Hans Francis Hastings, who succeeded in establishing his right to the earldom and received his summons in that title in 1819.
He is by some sources considered as the de jure eleventh Earl while some sources do not include him in the numbering of the Earls. On his death, the claim passed to his nephew Hans Francis Hastings, son of George Hastings. He was allowed to take his seat in the House of Lords as the Earl of Huntingdon in 1819. [2]
He had taken the name of Hastings after his maternal uncle, Francis, 10th earl of Huntingdon, whose estates and minor titles he inherited in 1808 on the death of his mother. He was then appointed governor and commander-in-chief of Malta, in which capacity he died on board HMS Revenge in Baia Bay off Naples 28 November 1826.
Hans Francis Hastings, 12th Earl of Huntingdon (14 August 1779 – 9 December 1828) was a British Royal Navy officer and peer. He was sometimes known by his second Christian name, Francis, Earl of Huntingdon.
