Personaje de carácter místico y carnal, depresivo y al mismo tiempo vital, Franz Liszt nació en Doborjan (para la época Raiding, en el Imperio Austríaco), Hungría, el 22 de octubre de 1811. Comenzó a estudiar el piano con su padre Adán, un funcionario del príncipe Esterházy, cuando todavía era un niño.
