Günther Mader (born 24 June 1964) is a former alpine ski racer and Olympic medalist from Austria. Born in Matrei am Brenner, Tyrol, he is one of only five men to have won World Cup races in all five alpine disciplines (downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and combined).
Günther Mader (* 24. Juni 1964 in Matrei am Brenner , Tirol ) ist ein ehemaliger österreichischer Skirennläufer . Er ist einer jener fünf männlichen Skirennläufer, die Siege in allen alpinen Disziplinen erringen konnten; dabei wurde er auch in jeder Disziplinenwertung und im Gesamtweltcup zumindest Zweiter.
Born in Tyrol in 1964, Günther Mader is one of the great all-rounders of alpine skiing, winning World Championship and Olympic medals in the downhill, combined, super G and slalom. He is one of only five men to have won World Cup races in all five alpine disciplines, and his downhill win on the Kitzbühel Streif in January 1996 is legendary.
Günther Mader raced World Cup from 1982-98, winning 14 cup races, and through 2013 is one of only five men to have a World Cup race in all five Alpine disciplines. In all he had 41 World Cup podiums, and won the seasonal World Cup in giant slalom in 1989-90 and in combined in 1995-96.
