Having already announced that Barrie would be retiring at the end of the year due to health concerns and, after an enforced Covid pandemic break throughout 2020, the band decided to return to the stage in 2021 with long time bassist Ian 'Dipster' Dean taking over the vocal duties.

1 de feb. de 2023 · During those months of Covid lock down, Chords UK bassist Mic Stoner joined to allow Ian ‘Dipster’ Dean to become the permanent lead singer. The new songs came thick and fast as the band hit the studio for the first time in almost twenty years and a new chapter was written in the history of Eddie and the Hot Rods.
Now fronted on Vocals by Ian 'Dipster' Dean with Simon ‘Basher’ Bowley on Drums and Richard Holgarth on Guitar, this line up has been the core of The Hot Rods for the last 25 years.
