Jefferson F. Davis (June 3, 1808 – December 6, 1889) was an American politician who served as the first and only president of the Confederate States from 1861 to 1865. He represented Mississippi in the United States Senate and the House of Representatives as a member of the Democratic Party before the American Civil War.He was the United States Secretary of War from 1853 to 1857.

Jefferson Davis. Militar y político estadounidense. Nació el 3 de junio de 1808 en el condado de Christian (Estados Unidos). Cursó estudios en la Universidad de Transylvania (Lexington, Kentucky) y en la Escuela Militar de West Point. En 1828 se graduó y sirvió en puestos fronterizos hasta que deja el ejército en 1835 por problemas de salud.
Jefferson Davis fue el único presidente de la Confederación sudista, formada por los Estados del Sur entre 1861 y 1865. Político norteamericano, militar formado en West Point y luchador contra los indios y México, se dedicó a la política después de la guerra. Capturado y encarcelado por los federales, fue amnistiado en 1868.
