John David Newcombe AO OBE (born 23 May 1944) is an Australian former professional tennis player. He is one of the few men to have attained a world No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles. At the majors, he won seven singles titles, a former record 17 men's doubles titles, and two mixed doubles titles.
John Newcombe was a dominant Australian tennis player who won 26 major titles, including 17 doubles and five singles. He was known for his powerful serve, volley and forehand, and his partnership with Tony Roche.
