This was a last minute change, but one that worked out well. Kerry replaced Brutus Beefcake, after he was injured in a boating accident. The fans loved him, popping huge when he applied the Iron Claw.

He almost competed in the 1980 Olympics. The Von Erich brothers were raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and all of them excelled in sports as kids.
