Arthur Pelkey, one time aspirant for the world's heavy weight championship, was knocked out in thirteen rounds by a negro pugilist named "Kid" Norfolk, who claims the championship of the canal region.
Kid Norfolk was a short and muscular fighter, with great physical strength and endurance. Although standing just 5’ feet 8”inches, and weighing between 165 to 185 during his career, Norfolk would fight fully fledged heavyweights, often giving away as much as 30 pounds in weight to his opponents.
Kid Norfolk, as he now was known, began to fight white and black opponents in Colon and Panama City. On January 18, 1914, he outpointed Abraham Hollandersky, a legendary white fighter who later claimed to have had over 1,000 professional fights, over 25 rounds in Colon.
