Koen Lieckens graduated from the Rotterdam Conservatory in 1995. He then studied with Billy Hart in New York. He has his own trio and performes with renowned musical artists in Belgium and internationally. He has been teaching at the Art Humanities in Antwerp and the Fontys School of the Arts in Holland.
Following the departure of van der Zeew, drummer Koen Lieckens joined the fold and appeared on 2000's Almost Happy. Mixed by Tchad Blake, the album took a more melancholy, intimate approach. A Top Five hit in Belgium and a Top Ten hit in the Netherlands, Almost Happy was followed by 2001's Live, a double-disc collection of concert highlights.
