New plaque beneath the original memorial: THESE WAR MEMORIALS COMMEMORATE THE FORMER PUPILS AND STAFF/ OF THE LIVERPOOL INSTITUTE FOR BOYS WHO DIED IN ACTION IN THE FIRST AND SECOND WORLD WARS./ THE MEMORIALS WERE REMOVED WHEN THE SCHOOL CLOSED IN 1985/ AND WERE SUBSEQUENTLY SEPARATED AND DAMAGED./
