Mikhail Voronin. Mikhail Yakovlevich Voronin ( Russian: Михаил Яковлевич Воронин; 26 March 1945 – 22 May 2004) was a Soviet and Russian gymnast who competed for the Soviet Union in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He won seven medals, including two gold, at the 1968 Summer Olympics, as well as two silver medals at the 1972 Summer Olympics. [1]

Va néixer el 26 de març de 1945 a la ciutat de Moscou, que en aquells moments era la capital de la Unió Soviètica i que avui en dia és la capital de la Federació Russa.

The best tournament for Voronin was the 1968 Olympics, where he medaled in every event, except floor exercise, winning two gold medals (horizontal bar and vault), four silvers (individual all-around, parallel bars, rings and team event) and a pommelled horse bronze.
At a time when Japan was ruling men's gymnastics, Mikhail Voronin was often able to keep the Soviet Union on the medal podium. And though his USSR teams always finished second at World and Olympic competitions during his career, Voronin emerged a champion more than once.
