Otto Lilienthal. Inventor e ingeniero aeronáutico alemán. Nació el 23 de mayo de 1848 en Anklam. En 1862 comenzó experimentos de vuelo. Cursó estudios en una escuela industrial y trabajó en la Fábrica de Máquinas de Schwarzkopff en Berlin. Posteriormente estudió en la Academia Industrial hasta 1870. En junio de 1878 se casó con Agnes Fischer.
