25 de abr. de 2024 · Welcome to the first Principal's Newsletter, I will be writing to all members of our school community on a half-termly basis from September 2023. As we come to the close of the 2022/23 academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to parents / carers, staff and governors for their continued support towards Penistone Grammar School.
Penistone Grammar School is a co-educational secondary school and post-16 centre located in South Yorkshire. With first class teaching, a values driven approach to learning and a strong school community, PGS provides an excellent educational experience for students from year 7 through to year 13.
The school has excellent conference, meeting and event facilities and is open from 17.00 to 21.30 Monday to Thursday, 17.00 to 20.00 Friday and 9.00 to 13.00 Saturday (closed Sundays). Penistone Grammar School is located in a semi-rural area, just five minutes from Penistone town centre and the railway station, with hourly links to both Sheffield and Huddersfield.
Penistone Grammar School was founded in 1392, when it is recorded that a gift of land was made by John Clarel, Lord of the Manor at Penistone, for the purpose of a school. The was rebuilt in 1702 and in 1892 the school withdrew from its town centre position and is now about half a mile north-west of the town centre.
At Penistone Grammar School we are committed to supporting students in full time education. To promote this, the Post 16 facility has access to a 16-19 Bursary Fund, whereby students can apply for assistance towards costs associated with their continued education.

Parent / Carer Information. Transport. Although public transport is outside the school’s jurisdiction, staff will always be available to support students in any way they can.
