The Phillip Street Theatre, originally known as St James Hall, was built in 1903 by the Church of England. A small stage was erected in the hall in 1912, with this being rebuilt and enlarged four years later.
Today, the Ohio Theatre is home to the Columbus Symphony, BalletMet, and Broadway in Columbus, and also hosts CAPA-presented performances, as well as a wide variety of touring artists and shows each year.
Newport Music Hall opened in 1921; it was then known as the State Theater. In the 1970s, it became known as the Agora Ballroom. The hall seats 2,000 and most of the original decor is intact. It is one of the many music venues on High Street in Columbus, and the oldest continually running venue.
