A successful goalscorer, Pietro Paolo Virdis started his career with the Sardinian amateur club Nuorese, before moving into Serie A. He played for Cagliari Caclio (1975-76 and 1981), Juventus (1978-80 and 1982), Udinese Calcio (1983-84), and A. C. Milan (1985-89), and finally ended his career with A. S. Lecce (1990-91).
