Rude joined WWE in 1987 after successful stops in World Class Championship Wrestling and WCW. He immediately earned the ire of the WWE Universe, deriding what he saw as a lack of physical fitness among them as he demanded silence while he disrobed.
So, what killed “Ravishing” Rick Rude? Approximately a month after departing WCW, Rick Rude was found unconscious by his wife and was pronounced dead on April 20, 1999, at the age of 40 due to heart failure. An autopsy later revealed that he’d died due to an overdose of mixed medications.
