Roderick George Toombs (April 17, 1954 – July 31, 2015), better known as ”Rowdy” Roddy Piper, was a Canadian professional wrestler, amateur wrestler, and actor.. In professional wrestling, Piper was best known to international audiences for his work with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) between 1984 and 2000.

Although a beloved member of the WWE Hall of Fame, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper began his WWE career as one of the most hated villains ever to step between the ropes. After making his bones in the NWA during the late '70s, the Hot Rod came to WWE in 1984, where he quickly rose to astronomical heights.

Roddy Piper was born Roderick George Toombs on April 17, 1954 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was a pro wrestler from 1973-1987 in the NWA, Pacific Northwest, California. He was a longtime mainstay in the WWF, and was one of the biggest "bad guys" in the WWF during the early '80s, before becoming a fan favorite in the late '80s.
