27 de abr. de 2024 · ELIJAH FISHER / EQUINOX STAFF. Billy Bob Thornton’s directorial debut, ‘Sling Blade’ is an impressive landmark in independent filmmaking. Thornton wrote, directed and starred in the film which follows a mentally handicapped man who is released from a mental institution after seventeen years.
There is a lot going on in that movie. If it’s neo-noir then it’s also not, and it’s 10 other things. 23 if it’s standing on it’s side. Not a terrible conclusion, given the overall tone of the movie, but characters being well played is not evidence of noir. Ok, this mid 90's release may not fit the classic time frame. Locations either.
