Stéphane Audran se stala Chabrolovou kmenovou herečkou a vzhledem k režisérově úloze ve francouzské nové vlně se Stéphane logicky stala jedním z jejích symbolů. Poprvé hrála v Chabrolově filmu BRATRANCI (Les cousins, 1959), následně dostala hlavní role ve všech jeho následujících snímcích, které však v průběhu šedesátých let měly kolísavou kvalitu.
