The notice of a screening came around, I read the names Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin, and it didn't matter in a way what the movie was about — although it didn't hurt that it was a crime movie.. Stand Up Guys could have been great. It had a premise that should have worked, with room for both laughs and sentiment. What we got apart from a few nice little flourishes was Pacino doing his usual Pacino and Walken struggling with having to be the straight man to Pacino's recently released ex-con.
