  2. Overview. Sundiata Acoli, formerly known as Clark Squire, was convicted of first-degree murder of a State Trooper during a shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike in 1973. He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole until after 25 years served. He was first eligible for parole in 1999, but it was moved up to 1993 due to good behavior.
