8 de abr. de 2024 · Thomas Seymour, Baron Seymour (born c. 1508—died March 20, 1549, London, England) was the lord high admiral of England from 1547 to 1549. His political intrigues led to his execution for treason and thereby contributed to the downfall in 1549 of his elder brother, Edward Seymour, duke of Somerset, who was lord protector (regent) for the young king Edward VI.
THOMAS SEYMOUR, BARON SEYMOUR OF SUDELEY, Lord High Admiral of England, was fourth son of Sir John Seymour of Wolf Hall, Wiltshire, and younger brother of the Protector Edward Seymour, 1st duke of Somerset. His sister Jane Seymour became the third wife of Henry VIII in 1536, and another sister, Elizabeth, married Thomas Cromwell's son.

12 de abr. de 2020 · 1549 (18th February) Thomas Seymour was charged with having committed treason. The treasonable offences included trying to marry the King’s sister, Lady Elizabeth, without permission and of trying to depose his brother by winning over the young King’s affections and abducting him.
Thomas failed to do so, and instead, tried to kidnap the king. On the night of January 16th, 1549, Thomas Seymour tried to break into the child monarch’s apartments, but his attempt was foiled when one of the king’s spaniels woke the place up with its barking. We know Thomas Seymour had a beard and mustache, so that matches…but in all his other known portraits he is wearing a hat — appears to be the same hat in each portrait.
