Saxophonist Berne created Bloodcount in 1993 as a means of deconstructing the jazz combo–to “de-emphasize the usual soloistic approach and create more of a chamber-music approach to improvisation,” he said at the time–and of reconstructing the balance between structure and freedom.

26 de may. de 2016 · Nearly ten years after their last performance, saxophonist Tim Berne has resuscitated archival recordings of his influential group Bloodcount. The three-disc Seconds includes two concerts from 1997 and a documentary DVD from 1994.
Lowlife: The Paris Concert is a live album by saxophonist Tim Berne's Bloodcount which was recorded in 1994 and released on the JMT label. Lowlife was nominated for best mainstream jazz album at the National Association of Independent Recording Distributors and Manufacturers 1995 Indie Label awards.
