By the end of the movie, the protagonist overcomes/outgrows his/her trauma, and the imaginary friends disappear. What movies are like this? Of course, stories with one imaginary friend are fine as well. I appreciate melancholic settings and thought-provoking stories. I am also interested in whether the movie is adapted from a novel, comic, etc.

God's not dead was a low budget Christian propaganda film starring the disappointed actor Kevin Sorbo that made a ton of money through Christian identity marketing.
