You'll see all the usual GWML stuff (43s, 180s, 165s and 166s) plus Cross Country 220s and 221s (they are going fast though so can be tricky to get the numbers). Plenty of freight if you go at the right times, mostly 66s but occasional 59s and 60s.

North West (South) - Acton Bridge or Peak Forest (Can be hit & miss, not recommended to just turn up blind) Midlands - Stafford but lots of other places that are also busy; Nuneaton, Rugby, Water Orton, Tamworth.

When I am trainspotting i carry a notebook for quick scribbles but I mainly use a trainspotting app on my phone (that also has a record function for transcribing later if i'm trying to get a lot at once). The app i use is handy as it can handle multiple data sets at once and if i only get 1 carriage number of a set i will mark the set as seen.
