Tulane University, officially the Tulane University of Louisiana, is a private research university in New Orleans, Louisiana. Founded as the Medical College of Louisiana in 1834 by seven young medical doctors, it was turned into a comprehensive public university as the University of Louisiana by the state legislature in 1847. [7]
A major research institution, and one of just 62 members of the prestigious Association of American Universities, Tulane operates on multiple campuses and schools, but is also a university with small class sizes and one-on-one mentor relationships between students and faculty.
Our 8,200 full-time undergraduate students can choose from over 70 different majors and minors. By completing Tulane's Core Curriculum, students are exposed to academic foundations in writing, formal reasoning, foreign language, scientific inquiry, and cultural knowledge and expression, and interdisciplinary scholarship.
