Walden School was a private day school in Manhattan, New York City, that operated from 1914 until 1988, when it merged with the New Lincoln School; the merged school closed in 1991. Walden was known as an innovator in progressive education.

Beginning first in 1952 as the Junior Conservatory Camp, and now since 1972 as The Walden School, musicians have been gathering each summer in New England for creative inspiration. What makes Walden special and what draws students back, summer after summer?
Walden School’s College Counseling office incorporates a comprehensive program involving the students and their parents from their freshman year through graduation. The program includes all aspects of the college enrollment process, including the student’s academic schedule, the importance of the student’s GPA and ACT/SAT scores, and researching financial assistance opportunities.
We are always looking for outstanding team members. Join our team. In addition to their many talents, the faculty and staff of the Walden School are trained in performance, composition, conducting, theory and pedagogy. Each staff member participates in at least one of the School’s programs.
Walden School was founded by Dr. Edward F. Vermillion in 1975, as an independent, coeducational school, offering a K-12 college preparatory program in an environment where curiosity and an enthusiasm for lifelong learning would be fostered.
