William Beaudine was an American film actor and director. He was one of Hollywood’s most prolific directors, turning out films in remarkable numbers and in a wide variety of genres, earning him the nickname “One Shot” Beaudine. Born in New York City, Beaudine began his career as an actor in 1909 with American Mutoscope and Biograph Company.

Their son William Beaudine, Jr. followed in his father's footsteps becoming a successful director. In February of 1960 he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Shortly before his death, he received the Film Critics Award of the New York Arts Institute for his 1926 film "The Canadian," which was considered as one of the best pre-sound films.
